Fungus gnats, Shore flies – Adults on sticky card
Shore flies and fungus gnats are often mistaken for each other. Adult fungus gnats (Bradysia spp.) are mosquito-like in shape, about 1/8 inch long, with long legs, a pair of clear wings, and long antennae. Adult shore flies (Scatella stagnalis) have a robust body, very short antennae, shorter legs, and dark wings with about five round light spots. These features distinguish it from fungus gnats.
